I offer a safe and confidential space, in which we explore together how to make the changes you are looking for. Counselling Counselling tends to associate with more short term and focused work. Many clients come to me referred by Occupational Health or Human Resource professionals and have been offered short time, i.e. a limited number of sessions. That means that as a counsellor I will help you to stay focused on the issues you are currently dealing with. I am an associate counsellor/psychotherapist for many employee assistance programmes (EAPs) offering brief therapy to clients for companies like BUPA Wellness, First Assist and Retail Trust. I run a busy private practice. People come for counselling because they want to talk to someone who is willing to listen, not judge them and who might offer help to find a way out of their predicament. Most clients have already made a real effort to find a solution but feel that they are going round in circles. Couples find it difficult to express how they feel about each other without getting into unpleasant and hurtful arguments. Parents contact me because they look for guidance how to make their family function better. All report a 'trapped' feeling that has motivated them to seek professional help. Bereavement, relationship issues within families or between couples, anger management, anxiety and depression are brought to counselling because they are so often seen as the cause of the problems people experience. Psychotherapy Psychotherapy explores issues in greater depth and requires more commitment to longer term work. It aims to reach the underlying, often unconscious, causes of distress. Think of your life experiences like an onion. In psychotherapy therapist and client work together peeling off the layers till we get to the core, which is often the toughest part of the onion. The root of our problem can often be that deep and it is difficult to peel the onion by yourself. The tears might put you off. Psychotherapy offers someone who can gently guide you and ask the right questions in order to help you with that task and make sense of it all. Family Counselling: Families can have issues that they do not seem to be able to solve. It may be relationship between parent(s) and children or between siblings. Family life becomes stressful and unhappy with blame and argiments. In Family Counselling all members have a say and together we look at options open to them to create change and a more satisfying and pleasant family environment. Couple Counselling: No relationship runs in a straight line! Most couples will admit "We do our best to talk it through and sort out differences but we end up arguing and fighting." In the safe environment and with the help of an experienced couple counsellor. each partner gets the opportunity to express their feelings and look at options how to work and communicate together more effectively and lovingly. Life Coaching There are other reasons why people decide to seek help and advice. I also offer life coaching where the focus is on specific aims and objectives such as effective communication skills, managing stress in the workplace or at home, on becoming more assertive and confident. Those skills are useful when giving presentations, attending or leading interviews, managing teams, apply for promotion or when deciding to make a career change. They are life skills that, when mastered, can be applied in many life situations. Hypnotherapy I am a well qualified and experienced hypnotherapist. There are a range of problems and habits for which hypnosis and/or hypnotherapy can provide genuine help and relief. They include nail biting, phobias, stress, anxiety, panic attacks, irrational fears, imagined illness and health fears, stammering, blushing, asthma, and migraine, lack of confidence and motivation, underachievement in study, sport or work. In a nutshell, hypnotherapy offers an additional help with any problem you're finding hard to handle on your own - thoughts and actions you'd like to banish or acquire, or emotional suffering that is too overwhelming or has gone on too long. Supervision I have a Diploma in Clinical Integrative Supervision. I offer supervision to trainee counsellors at a reduced rate and qualified psychotherapists, counsellors and other professionals.
