Rachel is a chartered Psychologist and has worked as a main range and Senior Specialist Educational Psychologist across 3 local authorities and Children's Services. In her role as Senior Specialist EP for mental health and emotional wellbeing, she has worked extensively as part of multidisciplinary teams alongside professionals from Education, Social Care and Child and Adolescent Mental Health, to promote the emotional health of children, adolescents and teaching staff across mainstream and specialist settings. As a result of research into school staff absenteeism and stress related illness, Rachel has developed audit materials which have been used successfully in a number of schools and educational settings to collect and analyse data which has informed a range of interventions delivered on individual and small group levels. Rachel has also developed a successful programme, 'SMART', designed to address issues of stress management and relaxation for secondary aged pupils.

Currently, I work as an independent consultant psychologist with children and adults, in mainstream, specialist and private settings. I deliver some locum work to local education authorities (working in schools and early years settings with children, parents and teachers). I also see private clients for a range of reasons; I carry out full scale cognitive and psychometric testing to diagnose dyslexia and to support clients in applications for student examination concessions etc. I also work with adolescents and adults who require psychological reports for court hearings, family court matters (Expert Witness Reports) (e.g parental suitability / attachment issues), and other issues when psychological assessment has been requested e.g. charges of theft where it is suspected the client has psychological conditions such as Kleptomania contributing to the criminal behaviour. My private sessions also focus on stress management and cognitive behaviour therapy for adults who have suffered stressful events - for example, I deliver 6 weekly one hour sessions around cognitive approaches to managing stress; working with individuals to identify faulty thinking and developing better coping strategies.

I am a fully qualified, chartered Child and Educational Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society, Division of Educational and Child Psychology (DECP). I qualified as a teacher with an English Degree from Leeds University in 1994 and worked in a mainstream school before studying postgraduate Psychology at the University of London, School of Education. I have an Advanced Diploma in Educational Psychology, a Masters Degree in The Psychology of Education and an MSc. in Educational Psychology. I have worked as an educational psychologist across 3 local authorities and children's services as a Senior Specialist in Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing, before setting up in private practice in 2007. I have extensive knowledge and expertise in children's special educational needs carrying out cognitive and psychometric assessments and working in therapeutic ways with children / young people and adults.
