Hypnosis myths and reality
First myth: although you may have come across the use of hypnosis for entertainment purposes, this is not the only use of hypnosis techniques by any means! Hypnotherapy, which is based in applying hypnosis in a clinical setting is a very important form of therapy that is becoming increasingly popular around the world.
In any case, the most important thing to know is that during a Hypnotherapy session you do not surrender your will or consciousness to the hypnotist.
Hypnosis works with the imagination, not the will. Nobody can make you do anything you do not want to do, or that would harm you.
It is generally said that all hypnosis is self hypnosis. A good hypnotist is just like a "tour guide" taking you into the place within your mind where you can make changes. Hypnosis helps you focus on what you DO want, making it easier to achieve your goal, whatever it is. The hypnotist does not have magical powers!
