I am a Person Centred Counsellor who has worked with individuals since 1990's. I work in ways that respect people’s capacity to find their own ways in life and support their changes at their own pace. My style of working involves creating a safe and supportive environment in which healing, growth and insight can take place. I have extensive experience in working with a wide variety of clients of different age groups and from different backgrounds. I work with: Individuals, couples and groups (including parenting and bereavement groups).
I offer Face to Face, in person appointments in both Bristol, Stroud and Cirencester. When you contact me for this type of appointment, I can confirm the exact address to you.
“I am aware of the importance of self-love. Love is contagious. We are able to communicate love and tenderness towards others when we are loving towards ourselves and all that we are.” Barbro Magnusson
My work includes short-term cognitive therapy, which addresses issues such as stress management, assertiveness, communication skills and decision-making. For some individuals deeper, more long-term work is needed. Problems such as depression, which may have developed in childhood, can affect us in every day life.
Some further areas of counselling I deal with not mentioned in my specialities: issues of love, spirituality, power to change, relationship issues, personal development, low self esteem and lack of confidence, assertiveness, stress, fear, anger management, pregnancy and childbirth, postnatal depression, family dynamics, menopause, loneliness, separation and divorce, health issues and terminal illness, trauma and PTSD. Survival of boarding schools and abuse.
The relationship between the counsellor and the client provides an opportunity to work through all of these deeper issues.
I am also a member of CCYP - Counselling Children and Young People.
